OPEN POSITIONS:
OPERATOR WATER/WASTEWATER DEPARTMENT:
The City of Bastrop is accepting applications for the position of Operator in the Water/Wastewater Department. The position will be under the close supervision of the Chief Plant Operator, assists in operation and maintenance of the City’s water wells, water treatment, storage systems, wastewater collection and treatment. Employees in this class also perform entry level work in monitoring, recording and reporting of information compiled by the system’s “real-time monitoring” computer system, and are responsible for attaining a class “C” operator certification in water or wastewater within one year of hire. Position assists with calibration, trouble shooting and repair of electronic controls system as needed. Additional duties include, collection and testing of water and wastewater samples to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies in the provision of clean and safe drinking water for the city. Performs related work as directed. Must be available for weekend and holiday duties, as well as emergency call outs. Applicants must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED; with vocational experience that demonstrates mechanical and numerical aptitude in a utility related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Employees in this class will work often in an outdoor environment and must have the physical ability to operate machinery, hand tools and various safety equipment. Salary $26,554/yr. + full benefits.
