City of Bastrop Certified Police Officers

The City of Bastrop is a rapidly growing community 20 miles east of Austin, Texas with a census population of 7,000 and a daytime service population of approximately 20,000. We are seeking professional police officers who are committed and dedicated to public service, possess a willingness and compassion to work together with the citizens of Bastrop to maintain a healthy and safe community.

Application deadline: The application process will remain open until all positions are filled.

Minimum Qualifications for Certified Officer:

■ U.S Citizen
■ Must have attended a Police Academy in Texas and be TCLEOSE Certified or be certified and licensed in Texas by hire date.
Additional Requirements include:
Valid drivers license with good driving record. Good moral character, stable employment record with no history of any conduct, which may effect suitability for law enforcement work. Pass each step of the application process, which includes oral interview board, thorough background investigation, physical, drug screen and physiological evaluation.

Applicants should first print and read these detailed instructions and requirements before applying for a patrol officer position.
Applicants must submit both the Bastrop Police Department Employment Application and also the City of Bastrop Employment Application.

Complete each on-line application, print off, attach the required documents and mail to: Bastrop Police Department, 104 Grady Tuck Lane, Bastrop, Texas, 78602.  You may also contact the police department and request a personal history statement and application be mailed to your home address.
Current Salary starting Dec. 1, 2007:
Basic (PO-I)
Intermediate (PO-II)
Advanced (PO-III)
$35,498.73
$37,273.67
$39,137.35
After successful 1-year probationary period hourly salary increases to:
Basic $17.49 per hour, Intermediate $18.36 per hour, and Advanced $19.28 per hour.
