Staff is pleased to submit the Fiscal Year 2008-2009 Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program with total appropriable funds of $32,351,419. The city's current tax rate of $0.5540 per $100 is an increase of $0.0190/ $100 over the previous year. The Maintenance and Operation (M&O) portion of the tax rate (.1992) only increased ($.0050). The remaining one and a half cent increase in the tax rate was to solely to support the Interest and Sinking Fund (I&S) portion of the budget $0.3398 to $0.3548. We believe this budget maintains public safety, infrastructure, and quality of life service levels our citizens have come to expect from the City of Bastrop.
