Attention:
Riverside Grove Pet Owners:
Hi,
my name is Bronwyn “BB” Mauldin. I am the Animal
Control Officer for the City of Bastrop Police Department. During
my routine patrols in the Riverside Grove Subdivision, I have
discovered some concerns that I would like to share with you.
My
first concern is with the number of “loose” dogs.
Dogs running through the park and neighborhood without supervision
and dogs being walked without leashes. It is against City Ordinance
for pets to be walked or roam without a leash. The “Running
at Large” ordinance applies to any animal (except cats)
which are “not restrained by means of a leash, chain,
or other apparatus of sufficient strength, length, or nature
to control the actions of such animal, while off the owners
premises.”
Another
concern is the “Public Nuisance Animals.”
“Animals that unreasonably annoy humans, endanger the
life or health of persons or other animals, or substantially
interfere with the rights of citizens, other than their owners,
to the enjoyment of life or property.” The term “Public
Nuisance Animal” includes any animal that damages, soils,
despoils, or defecates on private property, other than the animal
owners property, unless such waste is immediately removed or
properly disposed of by the owner of the animal. It also includes
animals making disturbing noises, including, but not limited
to, continued and repeated howling, barking, whining, growling,
or other utterances causing unreasonable annoyance.
Last,
but not least, I would like to remind all pet owners to keep
their pets vaccinated and to keep their vaccination tags on
their pets! With your help, we can continue to help
provide a safe and happy environment for your beloved pets.
