Kenneth Yarbrough II,
Patrol Officer
I look forward
to serving the citizens of Bastrop, raising my children here, and
contributing every effort to making this community a safe place
to live and visit.
I began my law enforcement career in 1983 near my East Texas home
town of Orange. After several years of service both as a Deputy
Sheriff and a City Police Officer I served a short tour of active
duty in the U.S. Army until I was honorably discharged. I then worked
for several years in the petro-chemical transportation industry
in the Houston area. The tragic events of September 11, 2001 rekindled
my desire to serve as a law enforcement officer so I reactivated
my license to continue my chosen profession. I recently moved from
Southwest Texas where I had served as a Deputy Sheriff and most
recently as a Patrol Sergeant for a City of approximately 20,000
citizens.
I currently hold an Advanced Peace Officer license and am certified
as a Mental Health Peace Officer, Police Instructor, TCLEOSE Firearms
Instructor, NRA Firearms Instructor, Firearms Range Master, and
a swift water rescue technician. I have had extensive training in
hazardous material incident response and disaster mitigation in
accordance with Federal guidelines. I have attended some college
and a wide variety of law enforcement related continuing education
courses including patrol, investigations, management, and tactics.
I always strive to remain current on training issues and increase
my knowledge and skills both as a student and instructor.
Some of my previous law enforcement duties have included patrol,
drug interdiction, investigations, service of civil process, patrol
supervision, grant writing, administrative, coordination of training,
and leadership of a 14 member S.W.A.T. team.
I enjoy activities with my family and children such as camping,
fishing, hunting, canoeing, rappelling, and SCUBA diving and my
greatest thrill comes from knowing I have made a positive impact
on some other person’s life.
I pledge to always remain objective, fair, and reasonable. I will
interact with people in an equitable and respectful manner and strive
to provide the best law enforcement service possible. Thank you
for the opportunity to serve Bastrop as a professional Police Officer
and the ability to join this beautiful and wonderful community.
